DuPont is riding the wave of focus on HEV, EV and autonomous drive technology into the future.

In the Spring 2018, DuPont’s creative team approached Externa with an exciting project. DuPont was opening an innovation center in Silicon Valley in the fall and using it as an opportunity to officially launch their new AHEAD™ (Accelerating Hybrid-Electric Autonomous Driving) initiative.
Each product group would be given an area within the Silicon Valley Innovation Center (SVIC) to showcase their technologies and products. As the electrification and autonomous navigation of vehicles is in the forefront of development currently, AHEAD™ was the perfect choice. But how to tell that story? That’s where Externa came in.
This was a perfect opportunity to really flex out creative muscle! Leaning on our abilities to deeply understand products and industries, we got straight to work developing a hero character and near-future world for her to live in.
First we designed our hero, Evie, a little dog for her, and a cast of co-workers and citizens of her world. Next we set to work developing an electric, autonomous “pod-car” and a charging infrastructure. After that was a vignette of a city/town and various props, including delivery drones based on CCTV cameras.

With our core audience in Silicon Valley, we thought it appropriate to create some tech companies to populate Evie’s world. Zapper helps them search the web while Nile.com delivers anything they need via drone.
The resulting animation follows our hero, Evie, through a typical day, focusing on her travels to work and back, making her commute a breeze. You can check out a short cut of the animation here.
An interactive, touchscreen application was also developed to let SVIC visitors learn exactly where on the pod-car DuPont’s products were located and what the benefits of these products are.
All in all, this was one of the most fun, rewarding and successful projects Externa has ever been involved in!
